I work in the Information Technology department of a large company. My job involves dealing with people’s technology-related issues. There was an opening for an Assistant Manager position in the office, and a new girl joined in that role.

I had to go there to set up her laptop and complete other office formalities, as is typical for a new employee. The girl who joined was in the Assistant Manager position, and after meeting her, I learned her name was Namita Yadav. I explained all the procedures to her and left. Later, various tasks came up, and whenever there was new work, I had to go to Namita. This was the day Namita joined

That same day, she started talking really fast, like she was in a hurry, saying she needed to leave and that I should finish all the formalities quickly. I looked at her face and didn’t say anything. Every day, I had to talk to her because of some work-related matter, and I don’t know why, but I started to like it, like there was someone who was asking about me.

When someone asks “How are you?”, it feels good, and it feels like someone is actually caring about me. A few days passed like this, and Namita asked me to show her the way to the office. She said she usually takes a shared taxi.

I understood her situation and showed her the way to get there by bus. We started meeting occasionally and sometimes even travelled together on the government bus. I was also feeling good; at least there was someone with me. On the first day, I asked her if she wanted tea, and Namita said she doesn’t drink tea.

I said okay, coffee, and Namita refused that too. Then, gradually, a friendship developed. I noticed something wasn’t quite right with her behaviour on the floor, so during lunchtime, I explained things to Namita and told her that such behaviour wasn’t acceptable.

When I asked about Namita village, I found out that she was from my village, and we even worked in the same company. Later, she came back after walking around for a while and said, “I come here for those people.” Namita then asked, “Has anyone said anything about me?”

I said no, and then Namita left. Namita had made a friend at the office who she would do whatever she was told to do. Whenever her friend asked her to go somewhere, she would go. Her friend smoked a lot, and Namita would go along to keep her company.

One day, our conversation turned to me, and gradually, after talking a little on the phone, feelings started to develop between us. She was very happy whenever she saw me and spent time with me, and she agreed to watch movies with me. One day, Namita asked me to have breakfast with her.

We went together, and when I went to pay, she said, “Leave it, why are you paying?” I said, “Let it go, I’ve already paid.” We continued talking, and I started to feel good. As we were walking, I put my hand on Namita shoulder, and she told me to take my hand off.

I said, “He’s my friend, I’m used to putting my hand on his shoulder.” Then she said, “Talk to me from a little distance.”

After a few days, I started to feel like she was testing me, and she started talking to me from a distance. A few days later, her behaviour suddenly changed. That’s when I found out that a girl from the office had given her some advice, telling her not to talk to me too much, only about work-related things. After that, she completely stopped talking to me.

When I went to her and asked why she wasn’t talking to me, thinking I might have done something wrong or misunderstood something, I apologised. Namita said she wasn’t angry and that she only talked to me when there was work to be done. I apologised again, a big apology, but she still didn’t relent.

I said, “Wait, I’m coming too,” but she said, “I’m leaving,” and started to go. Then she said, “Let’s go downstairs,” and after we went downstairs, she didn’t stop. I asked her to stop three or four times before she finally did, and then she asked, “What is it?”

When I stopped her, I said, “Listen,” and Namita asked, “What is it?” I said loudly, “Stop!” and then she stopped. Namita was angry, but she stopped and asked, “What happened?” I told her that we wouldn’t be going to the desk right now and would work with the remote control. Namita said, “But everyone else works like that there.

” I said, “She doesn’t listen to anything I say.” I then told her to stay away from Kartik. She asked, “Why?” and said, “I do my work and then I leave. I only care about my work.” After saying this, she fell silent. I said, “Stay away from the gate,” and then she left.

I also become quiet, Namita said in a monotone that I did not install anything, you said that day your voice seemed changed, I was about to ask and I will check it tomorrow and then I became quiet, she knows that she lies and when she recorded the video and posted it on her Instagram ID, I saw her video and then she went and called the thing she saw in front of her a lie, only then I became quiet, then I did not say anything and Namita was about to say something, she was angry, then she thought something and went away and when she was standing initially, I said come here, then she said what happened, people are watching and she started saying, I spoke very lovingly and I said you speak in a very casual tone and I was laughing, she was not even smiling a bit and went away angrily.

She was angry with me for a few days. Before that, she had posted a reel on her Instagram, which was a video of the office premises. I had initially refused, and Namita said she would delete it, but she didn’t. First, I asked if she had made any videos, and she denied it, then I told her not to lie.

Then she said yes, and then she said delete it. Then she nodded and left. Then, when I saw it the next day, the same video was visible on her account. I again told her to delete it, and she said okay.

I was going to archive the video, and then I said don’t do it, and she said, “Archive it, it won’t be visible.” A few days later, we were talking. Suddenly, one day, we met on a government bus, and we started talking about office and each other.

She wanted to take a photo with us, but she was hesitant, and then I went and didn’t let her take a photo. Similarly, the next day, I saw her, and I was sitting and reading a book, when suddenly, Namita asked me, “What are you studying?

” I said, “I’m still studying B.Com.” I was missing it so I lied and said I had missed it and asked what I had missed and then

She went and asked my age so I said I had already told her not to ask personal things and then she went and kept quiet. We both got down together in the government bus but she neither came with me nor did I call Namita and since then I tried to convince her twice and said sorry properly and then went and said sorry to her without any fault and said sorry to her through Whats App but still she did not agree.

I saw it when I was going home. Suddenly, I said, “Home.” Namita started saying, “I’ll tell you, you’ll get angry.” I said, “If I say anything, she says, ‘I’ll tell you,’ and she’ll get angry and sit there with a sulky face.” Then she went downstairs and went to the building.

After that, I said, “Let’s go by metro,” and she angrily said, “I’ll go.” Then I said, “I’ll come,” and then she said, “Go.” I also said, “I’ll wait,” and she said, “Go.” I went to the metro and didn’t go with her.

I knew she was very angry. Then, the security guard standing in front of me saw it and started thinking. From the next day, she saw it and started ignoring it.

The video she had made in the office and uploaded to her account became known to everyone. My senior went and told the general manager. The general manager told me to email it, and I refused. “Let it go.”

She’ll lose her job. The senior agreed with me, and I said, “Call her and tell her.” He called and told me and he blocked me, to make me understand that I showed him his video, the truth was that I had believed him and was not believing him, to save his job I told my senior that I had made such a video, I had no idea that Namita matter would go so high and then from then till now she has not talked to him and till now she has blocked him and we meet sometimes, we see each other’s face and ignore it,

That’s the whole story.
